Nebula

Pattern: Vortex
Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill Possum Laceweight & Misti Alpaca Lace
Needle size: 2mm
Ravelry project page
My first project for Nerd Wars. The challenge was to make something inspired by a nebula. I went with the rosette nebula because I had this amazing yarn that had the exact colours and I hadn't used it because it was variegated and I usually stray from too many colour changes in a yarn...especially in a laceweight.
It felt like it too a really long time but it only took two weeks. I added a different edging than the picot bind off because I wanted a little something extra when I wear it as a hood.
k2tog, yo, k, yo, k3 for one row and then the next row knit but k2tog the k2tog's.
I would have made this much bigger but I ran out of yarn. I'm planning on making it again but in fingering rather than laceweight so it'll go by much faster. My hands felt like they were cramping up on those needles, I guess it's the endless stockinette because I don't usually get that on small needles. I felt like an ogre when I finished this and made something else using 5mm needles. There's just something about teeny needles that make everyone a little dainty.
I'm trying to count my stitches this year after challenging myself to a million stitches and this shawl alone gave me 76,152 stitches.

FO Parade

There's a bit of shame in blogging when you stop. Especially when you have a craft blog and then you have a huge backlog of things you've made that you want to show off but having a post for each one after so much time just looks a little sad sometimes.
So here's to awkward silence.
A parade of some of the things I made since the summer:

Doctor Who dishcloths.
Tardis and DW logo. I had lost my crafting mojo and the fastest way to get it back is, of course, dishcloths! Especially when they're nerdy.

Pattern: Andrea's Shawl (+ Ravelry link)
Yarn: Knit Picks Palette (Edamame and Black)
Needle Size: 5mm
Ravelry project page
I wanted to use up the leftover yarn from my Shell Counterpane blanket. I had originally ordered black to make a border around the shells but I didn't like how that looked so I used it instead for this.

Pattern: Aeolian (+ Ravelry link)
Yarn: Araucania Ranco Solid
I love the edging of this shawl but not so much the body of it. So I went with a stockinette body.

Pattern: 22 leaves
Yarn: Nashua Handknits Creative Focus Worsted
I swear this is a lot prettier in person. This was a mystery KAL from September 2010. I saw the first clue knit up and just went for it. This was my first real mystery KAL. I've made projects from finished KALs but I had never participated in any current ones. This one was pretty fast paced which I really liked because I can see myself growing very impatient for clues to be posted.

Pattern: Wisp (+ Ravelry link)
Yarn: Schulana Kid Seta
Needles: 5mm
Ravelry project page
I have an unhealthy obsession with making Wisps. Immediately after casting off for this one I cast on for a black one (which I already have, but this yarn was sparkly) and I stopped myself after six rows and frogged it because I want to challenge myself and make different things. This is definitely my comfort pattern though.

I can't remember what the yarn is called, but it's your basic 100% wool worsted weight. The pattern is just a basketweave cable.

Pattern: None
Yarn: Schulana Kid Seta
The sparkle of this yarn does not show up but it's seriously amazing.

Pattern: Saroyan
Yarn: Cascade 220
Needle size: 5mm
Ravelry project page
This was actually made over a year ago and I completely forgot about it and just took a photo.

Pattern: None
Yarn: Nashua Creative Focus Worsted + Vanna's Choice
Hook size: 5mm and 6mm
Ravelry project page
This scarf is soooo simple but I love it so much. It actually has three flowers on the other scarf corner too but that's not shown.

I should probably make something other than shawls/scarves soon...
Now that I've gotten my crafting mojo back hopefully there won't be a need for long awkward silences and parades.
